The “World Soccer Winning Eleven” series (the “Pro Evolution Soccer” series for Europe) has always been the most supported soccer game series, and the newest of the series “World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 (WE8)” is released on August 5. If you have problems using a trainer in combination with Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 10 then make sure to run the trainer with Administrator rights and when needed in Windows XP or Windows 98 compatibility mode! The “World Soccer Winning Eleven” series (the “Pro Evolution Soccer” series for Europe) has always been the most supported soccer game series, and the newest of the series “World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 (WE8)” is released on August 5. We investigated the variables associated with people's willingness to read warnings on household pest-control products and their likelihood of purchasing these products. It is suggested that an expanded list of signal words might alleviate potential problems of habituation from overuse of the currently recommended terms. From the list of 84 terms, a "shorter" list of 20 signal words was selected based on measures of understandability, interpretation consistency, and conciseness. Among the other words tested, DEADLY had the strongest arousal connotation and NOTE had the least. The results indicated that DANGER signaled greater strength or arousal than WARNING and CAUTION, but the results failed to show a difference between WARNING and CAUTION. Participants rated a list of 84 potential signal words on six questions assessing strength, severity of implied injury, likelihood of implied injury, attention-gettingness, carefulness, and understandability. The third purpose was to explore the possibility of increasing the number of words that connote different levels of hazard. The second purpose was to determine whether an additional set of five terms that have been suggested in guidelines or used in previous research differs in connoted level of hazard. The first purpose of the present research was to examine whether these terms imply different levels of hazard. The three most frequently used signal words, DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION, are often purported to convey high to low degrees of hazard, respectively. The practical and forensic relevance of these results arc discussed, including implications for hazard communication to persons of different populations.Ĭurrent standards and guidelines on warning design recommend the use of an appropriate signal word for the purpose of conveying the level of hazard involved. Two shorter lists of potential signal words were derived that more than 95% or 99% of the youngest students (fourth and fifth graders) understood. In addition, ratings of understandability by college students were predictive of the tenns that younger students left blank. Although the younger students gave higher carefulness ratings to the words than did the college students, the rank ord.er.ol the words was consIstent across participant groups. A sample of 70 college students also rated the terms on carefulness, strength, and understandabtllty. Elementary and middle school students rated 43 potential signal words on carefulness (i.e., "How careful would you be after seeing each term?). A third purpose was to develop a list of potential signal words that would be understandable to most younger persons. A second purpose was to assess the understandablhty of signal words using an objective measure based on the number of missing ratings (i.e., ratings lett blank). One purpose of the present research was to determine if the hazard levels implied by signal words connote the same relative meaning to a different population of persons, namely elementary and middle-school students. However, the tested population in almost all of these studies has used college students. So much so that Alaskans will receive an annual dividend simply for living there for a full calendar year and plan on becoming a resident indefinitely. But with Alaska being so far away, you may wonder: how much does Alaska pay you to live there and why? If moving closer to the great outdoors sounds appealing to you, nothing beats the rugged, beautiful landscape of Alaska. Find out more about places that pay you to live there and the incentives they offer. Whether you’re moving across the country for a change of scenery or the financial incentives of these programs sound appealing, there may be a few locations on this list that could be the ideal next step for you. Plus, a few states will even pay you to live there if you accept a local job, so you don’t necessarily have to be a remote worker, either. So, to attract more people to their city, local governments are paying remote workers to move to their area. The truth is that many states and cities could benefit from a larger tax base. But is it true? And if it is, which states will pay you to live there? And how much do they pay? But before you make a snap decision and pack up for the road, did you know that some cities and states have created incentive programs for relocation? That’s right – there are a number of cities and states that will pay you to move there. With this flexibility, many individuals have started to explore new cities and states to call home. As remote work continues to be a viable option for many people, it has opened up opportunities for people to live and work from anywhere without being tied to a physical office location. But a delayed development quirk means that an aggressive male hormone becomes predominant: to a gasp of shock from the assembled executives, a dagger-sharp "stinger" suddenly emerges from the penis-aperture mouths, with hilarious results.Ĭanadian star Sarah Polley is a quietly potent presence in the film – more interesting, frankly, than Brody. They were hoping that the besuited business types would be charmed by these bland critters and their "imprinting" dance. The secret of the couple's genetically engineered mutant child, Dren, comes to a horrendous climax in parallel with their vitally important presentation of Fred and Ginger to the company's massed stockholders. She has absolutely zero interest in children, and this is partly due to the way that her own mother treated her on the creepy old farmstead nothing is made absolutely clear, though obviously Elsa's neat, techno-urban childless life is deliberately the farthest thing imaginable from the ugly, painful chaos of her rural upbringing. Clive wants them, and yearns for a bigger, rambling house in which they can start a family Elsa wants a bijou double-bachelor apartment in which they can carry on their sleek, babyless lives. Natali shows how Clive and Elsa have their own issues as regards children. But Dren is, in her exotic way, an intense, passionate individual with her own sexual needs, and becomes infatuated with her pseudo-daddy Clive, who is aware that work and stress have meant he has not had sex for a long time. Its metabolic rate being weirdly souped up, the creature soon becomes a young woman, played by Delphine Chanéac, looking like a very young, intergalactic Michelle Pfeiffer.Įlsa and Clive call this entity Dren, the reverse of "nerd" – a joke I remember first hearing on the old television show Happy Days. Inevitably, their sinister quasifoetus grows out of control, smashes out of its flotation tank, and with its tail, equine hind legs and poignantly vulnerable human face, it becomes the childless couple's dirty little secret, being kept in a grimy stockroom and then in a hay-loft in Elsa's derelict old family farm. Working in a secret lab, and outside the law, they splice human DNA to this creature in an attempt to create breeding stock for genetic material which will cure all diseases from cancer to Parkinson's. Yet even this achievement does not slake Clive and Elsa's thirst for transgressive creation. Each of these creatures looks like an enormous leathery, yet slimy, scrotum, with a mouth that looks like the aperture of a penis. Clive and Elsa are massively proud of the new male and female they have in their tank, whom they are now encouraging to perform a mating ritual-dance known as imprinting and whom they whimsically name Fred and Ginger. Clive and Elsa have interspliced the DNA of a number of animals, creating a brand new trademarked gene-creature, whose cells can be replicated to create a hugely cost-effective new strain of livestock feed. They are Clive and Elsa, played by Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley, who by thinking outside the box, and by not being overly squeamish about ethical issues, have boosted the company's performance massively, and become celebrities with an interview in Wired magazine. Natali imagines a highly profitable biotech company, in the not-too-distant future, which uneasily tolerates among its workforce a married couple to whose creative scientific genius it has given a long leash. It's also an entertaining and cheerfully subversive satire on corporate ambition, and on the consequences of suppressing one's sex drive in favour of one's work drive. As the late Kenny Everett would have said, "It's all in the best possible taste." Vincenzo Natali, director of the cult 1997 mystery Cube, has confected a bizarre black-comic horror, a cross-breed mutant Frankenfilm with bits of Ridley Scott's Alien, David Cronenberg's The Fly and David Lynch's Eraserhead. These are your line infantry, and the backbone of your entire deck. You always start with the same four cards:Ģ cards of Mot Shutzen in SPW-50PK. No exceptions.Īll Infantry should be downvetted unless specified otherwise.Įastern Bloc is sort of.inflexible when it comes to infantry. For simplicity's sake, I recommend the UAZ. YMMV: Some people take lightly armored wheeled CVs like the VSOT-64 in place of the UAZ. The bigger trucks hold more supplies for their price, but the smaller trucks can easily be ferried to a potential FOB and back instead of having to buy more. If you're going without artillery, and don't find yourself needing to rearm helicopters too often, you can consider taking 2 cards of 40 point trucks (Ex: T815 Kolos from Czechoslovakia) instead. If you're using howitzers or MLRS, take an FOB and a smaller (15-30 points) truck. This will likely depend on what units you take in your Support tab. Downvet it, as you should any CV, if taken.įinally, you need supply units. However, while the T-72(K1) is a bit expensive, it's your best (and cheapest) option if you want an armored CV to deal with bombardment. This is less popular as good armored CVs are usually as cheap as possible (130-145 pts) while still retaining 2 top armor, making it resilient against artillery and bombs, the primary threat to Command units. The other option you have is the East German T-72(K1). This gives you an infantry CV, which is easily concealable in forests or towns, and a transport helicopter with excellent rocket pods that you can reroute to somewhere else after dropping off the infantry CV. The most popular choice is a Czech or Polish infantry CV (Ex: Velitelsky Stab) in the Mi-17. Second, get a card of "survivable CVs" for capturing more dangerous zones. (Ex: WD-43 from Poland.) This is your cheap, fast, plentiful command unit and your primary way of capturing zones, particularly ones not in obvious danger. 2 CVs, 2 Supply units (including FOB).įirst, get a card of Command UAZ from any of the three nations. The 100 Days Guide for Young Children, on the other hand, says the exact opposite more than a dozen times. Cure research has become increasingly unpopular as neurodiversity, the branch of the disability rights movement pioneered by autistic self-advocates, has become mainstream. Much fanfare was made last year when the word cure was removed from its mission statement. (In an email, Autism Speaks said, “The 100 Day Kit is not intended to provide medical advice, but rather to provide general information about autism services to the community to help them make informed personal decisions.”)Īutism Speaks, a longtime hotbed of controversy, currently asserts that it is not, in fact, searching for a cure for autism. This is listed alongside medically validated autism interventions like occupational therapy. For the record: Nobody has ever died of autism.Įlsewhere, the guide suggests a restrictive gluten-free, dairy-free diet for autistic children, which has no scientific support. Then there are smaller suggestions that children like me are a tragedy: In one parental anecdote, a mother complains about how a kid at her child’s preschool who was diagnosed with leukemia is getting all the attention she deserves, as if having a child with cancer and a child with a developmental disability are at all comparable. The kit even has an entire section outlining how parents may go through the Kübler-Ross stages of grief. The 100 Day Kit features a persistent narrative that having a child like me or Sesame Street’s Julia is like having a child who has died. Send me updates about Slate special offers. What happens if the test comes up positive, though? Then you get a link recommending the Autism Speaks 100 Day Kit for Young Children. This is relatively harmless-I and many other autistic adults feel that funding, and focus, on early diagnosis is disproportionate to the benefits and excessive, but it’s hardly offensive. It takes about two minutes and can be used to evaluate whether your child is keeping up with developmental milestones. The ads encourage viewers to have their children screened for autism and points to a resource on the Autism Speaks website that declares, “For Julia’s family, early screening made a lifetime of difference.” The first and biggest link on the page is a test called the M-CHAT-R (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised). What could possibly be wrong? It’s only when you click through to the resource itself that things begin to get murky. What’s not to love about playing music with friends or promoting diversity in communication? Autism Speaks is one of the largest, most visible autism charities. When you watch the Autism Speaks ad spots in question, everything seems to be about acceptance. At first, it might not be so obvious what’s wrong with the partnership. People thought they were buying one thing, but they were getting another. It’s the same as if they marketed the saddle as calfskin but it was really buffalo. Part of the reason people were willing to pay $$$ for the Tad was for a unique quality that the company claimed the saddle had, that it did not. Wouldn’t you? To never have to buy another saddle again? I’d pay $1,000 more than other saddles, sure!īut the sales gimmick isn’t true and I have to think the company knows. Of COURSE I’d pay extra for that, if it was a true statement. People (myself included, almost) spend big bucks on the Tad not just for the name, or because they like the cushy seat or styling etc.- they buy it because they think, and they are told by the company, that they are buying not JUST a nice saddle but a saddle that will fit every horse. The difference, and to me it’s a fundamental one, is that Beval didn’t tell you “this saddle will fit every horse” or market the Butet as having that quality. This does not make the Butet’s pieces of crap. I personally love mine and it fits my horse so all is good, I liked my Butet too but unfortunately my horse did not. So I can confirm that the “fits every horse” sales pitch was made, at least to some people. I also corresponded with Tad himself (super nice, very generous with his time) and was told that the saddles fit every horse and therefore he couldn’t explain why it didn’t fit mine (which it clearly did not). When I got a demo Tad, there was a DVD that came with it and the “fits all horses” claims were made on that DVD. It cannot fit every horse, even with the insertion of thin pieces of padding. Not to mention, to me there’s a difference between saying “XYZ design makes it more likely to fit a range of backs” (that’s a statement which could be true) and saying “this saddle FITS EVERY HORSE… now, why not come by 1, 2, or 3 of my majikal $100+ thin pieces of leather and neoprene that help your saddle defeat the laws of physics.” Two very different claims. But the fact that 2 companies do something wrong doesn’t make it right or, in my opinion, make any one company less culpable. I have no idea if CWD makes that claim or not, I’ve also never shopped for a CWD saddle. If CWD says it too- shame on them, because it’s not true. I’ve never shopped for a treeless saddle so I can’t comment on that. CWD even says it - they say their flexible tree points will adjust to fit any horse. In a world that is becoming increasingly impersonal, we believe connections are more important than ever. Most dogs will stay on these medications indefinitely but still live normal lives-with few seizures-once diagnosed and on treatment. Monitoring blood work is recommended for many of these medications. If the seizures are frequent or severe enough, the veterinarian will prescribe anticonvulsant medications. If no abnormalities that cause seizures are found, the dog is diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. Veterinarians typically will run tests like bloodwork, urinalysis and X-rays, but may also recommend MRI or CT-scans to look for a definitive cause. The diagnosis is made only once other causes of seizures have been eliminated. Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes seizures. EpilepsyĪmerican Eskimo Dogs are at higher risk for developing epilepsy when compared with other breeds. Many vets recommend low-intensity exercise, omega-3 fatty acids, glucosamine, and chondroitin supplementation for dogs diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Maintaining a lean body condition is important for preventing arthritis. This arthritis leads to pain, limping, and difficulty standing. Hip dysplasia can cause degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis. This can be influenced by growth rate, hormones, diet, and exercise. Hip dysplasia is a condition where the hip joint doesn’t develop properly, causing a loose joint. While more common in large dogs, hip dysplasia does occur in some smaller dogs, including the American Eskimo Dog. In more severe cases, the patella remains out of place and surgery may be recommended. In some cases, the patella returns to its proper alignment on its own, and can be treated with joint supplements or anti-inflammatory medications to control pain and prevent arthritis. When the patella is out of place, your dog may:Įmit a cracking or popping noise when the knee is bent This inappropriate movement can cause discomfort and may lead to arthritis. In dogs with patellar luxation, the patella moves (luxates) outside of its assigned groove when the knee is flexed. The patella (kneecap) is a small bone that normally sits in a groove within the femur at the knee. Routine dental cleanings are recommended to evaluate the mouth, remove plaque and tartar, polish teeth to prevent future buildup, and treat or extract teeth that are significantly unhealthy. Some diets, treats, and chew toys also help to prevent plaque and tartar.ĭental disease is a painful condition that may even affect the health of internal organs. The best way to prevent dental disease is with daily tooth brushing with a dog-specific toothpaste. Bacterial tartar and plaque lead to inflammation of the tissues around the teeth, and eventually to tooth and bone decay. Dental Diseaseĭental disease is one of the most common conditions seen in dogs as they grow older. There are currently no effective treatments. PRA is an inherited disease in most cases, so dogs with this condition should not be bred. Over time, the condition will result in blindness. Initially, the dog may have difficulty seeing in the dark. Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is a group of diseases that causes the breakdown of the photoreceptor cells (rods and cones) on the retina. But like all dogs, Eskies are susceptible to a handful of health conditions. Standard Eskies, at 15–19 inches tall and up to 30 poundsĪmerican Eskimo Dogs are generally healthy and live 13–15 years on average. Miniature Eskies, standing 12–15 inches tall and weighing 10–20 pounds Toy Eskies, which stand 9–12 inches tall and weigh 6–10 pounds There are three American Eskimo Dog sizes: American Eskimo Dogs also require lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and out of trouble. They require a fair amount of combing and brushing at home, but most Eskies don’t need extensive professional grooming. Perky and eager to please, Eskies can make wonderful pets for active families and single pet parents alike. The American Eskimo Dog is an “ intelligent, alert, and friendly” dog, according to the breed standard. The American Eskimo Dog became popular as a circus performing breed in the late 1800s, according to the American Eskimo Dog Club of America (AEDCA), before they became primarily family pets. Before being brought to the United States by German immigrants, the American Eskimo Dog worked to herd and guard livestock. Rather, the dog is descended from the German Spitz dog breed. This breed, once known as the American Spitz, comes in three sizes: toy, miniature, and standard.ĭespite his name, the American Eskimo Dog is in no way related to the North American Inuit peoples. The American Eskimo Dog, or Eskie for short, is recognizable by his striking white or cream double coat.
